If you want to spend more time with your child, you can "go on parental leave". During this time, you do not work or do so only for limited hours. Mothers are not the only ones who use such an opportunity in Germany. Parental Leave in Ontario is a leave of absence from work commencing after a baby is born. Parental Leave is an employment standard enacted by the Ontario government in section 48 of the Employment Standards Act, 2000.
