If you want to spend more time with your child, you can "go on parental leave". During this time, you do not work or do so only for limited hours. Mothers are not the only ones who use such an opportunity in Germany. Parental Leave in Ontario is a leave of absence from work commencing after a baby is born. Parental Leave is an employment standard enacted by the Ontario government in section 48 of the Employment Standards Act, 2000. The Employment Standards Act, 2000 Parental Leave law applies to all employees and employers regulated by the Ontario government. Parental leave, or family leave, is an employee benefit available in almost all countries.
Employees may be able to take parental leave when a child is born or adopted. They can take continuous parental leave and flexible parental leave. An employee can use this form to notify their employer of, or update the details of any parental leave that they intend to take. This leave is in addition to any other parental leave they’re sharing with their partner. Employees are allowed to work up to 52 hours for their employer while on paid or unpaid parental leave (for a child born, or coming into the employee's care, on or after 1 July 2018).
